Drew McIntyre On Potentially Using ‘Broken Dreams’: WWE Owns The Song, It’ll Happen When The Time Is Right

Many fans want to see Drew McIntyre use “Broken Dreams” as his WWE theme song, and in a recent interview, he stated that the company owns the song and the rights to it, so this dream could become a reality at some point.

“Broken Dreams” was McIntyre’s theme before he joined 3MB, and he has used a different song since he returned to the company. But in an interview with Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, he made it clear that the matter might just be a matter of waiting for the right time.

“I’ve mentioned it a couple of times, and we do own the rights to it,” said McIntyre. “We do have the song and I guess it’s a case of when the time is right, it’s gonna happen. But because I’ve been hearing about it literally every week for years and years and years, especially toward the bigger events, like I’ve heard about it leading up to SunmerSlam here constantly.

“Every WrestleMania, I hear about it constantly, so anyone that’s in that audience, when it finally happens, [they] better have some kind of, you know you saw what happened with Jericho’s music the other night, everybody better know that song and better be singing along every single word, or I’m gonna have to go back, my tail between my legs and go, ‘Alright, I guess, sorry about that.”

McIntyre explained that, in theory, he wants to use the song and have fun with it alongside the WWE Universe. He then revealed that he was once told “Broken Dreams” was almost as popular as John Cena’s theme song.

“I think if we’re gonna do it, it’d be really cool to just go full blast with it, full tilt with it, [and] have it as the entrance song for that night,” said McIntyre. “And we know it’s gonna probably trend, everyone better know the words, and then we can maybe put it up for sale because it was really successful back in the day. I remember I was like 24 at the time, and the head of the music [department] came up to me and told me like, ‘Your song’s rivalling Cena’s at the time,’ like it’s that popular, and it’s such a cool song. I’m such a mark, I listened to it at the gym at the time all the time. [I] definitely don’t do that now.”

Jeff Hardy recently got his popular “No More Words” theme back, so fans will just have to wait and see if McIntyre is next in line for his respective song.
