Daniel Bryan was on a meteoric rise in 2013, becoming WWE’s hottest superstar at the time. He was handpicked by John Cena to challenge for the WWE title at SummerSlam and fans held out a lot of hope that Bryan would win. As it turned out, Cena and Bryan had incredible chemistry together in the ring and it translated into an all-time great SummerSlam main event.
Daniel Bryan would pin Cena clean as a whistle with his running knees and even got the endorsement from the legendary world champion. However, Bryan’s euphoria was cut short as Triple H turned on him and allowed Randy Orton to cash in the MITB briefcase successfully.
