Allen Maldonado Touts Ric Flair, Ultimate Warrior And Shawn Michaels For Inspiring His ‘Heels’ Character

Allen Maldonado got inspiration from some very colorful wrestling personalities.

The ‘Heels’ star spoke with WrestleZone ahead of the show’s debut and would delve into what went into his approach playing ‘Rooster’.

“Anytime you approach any character you want to look at the different nuances, at the different things that you’re going to want to add or enhance or even embellish on sometimes depending on the particular character and the different needs on the scene that you want. It was a lot of understanding of these characters and what they’re coming from and they’re needs and this type of journeymen type of weight that’s on all of their shoulders as the pressure of the league that’s on them as well, all of that was considered, man and it was a great shoot. Being able to be cast mates not just with James but just with a slew of phenomenal actors, it just made it so much easier to just fall right in line because everybody on here is a beast, everyone on here is just a beast and is an incredible talent and I’m excited for people to see everybody showcase their acting ability along with their wrestling talents.”

Maldonado would then tout Ric Flair, Ultimate Warrior and Shawn Michaels for inspiring his character’s look, traits and ability.

“I had some Ric Flair in there, you can see my costume had some feathers, you could see some Ultimate Warrior in there, that was my favorite wrestler growing up, Shawn Michaels, a lot of the kind of flamboyant wrestlers is who I like to gravitate towards and who a lot of my wardrobe is in homage of, so I hope people can kind of see that in my moves and different mannerisms.”
