WWE shockingly released Bray Wyatt on July 31 to bring the former Universal Champion’s memorable run with the company to an end.
Several days later, WWE fans continue to question the reasoning behind his departure. Plus, Wyatt’s lengthy absence in recent months has added even more confusion to the matter. He hadn’t been seen on WWE TV since the RAW after WrestleMania on April 12.
In an update, Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reports that Wyatt’s absence was linked to an “undisclosed physical ailment.” Barrasso confirmed that Wyatt was not suffering from a concussion or any related issue. He also wrote that Wyatt was cleared on Thursday, July 29, but he was released just two days later on July 31.
Additionally, Barrasso reports that Wyatt signed a new contract in 2020; it was a “multimillion-dollar deal,” but he still agreed to the 90-day noncompete clause. As a result, he’ll have to wait to sign elsewhere until this clause expires.
