It’s always been said that pro wrestling is not ballet, and The Rock “blames” pro wrestling for his lack of perfect abs.

The Rock, Dwayne Johnson is synonymous with fitness and “clanging and banging.” Despite the fact that he has muscles in places where most people don’t have places, he still believes he does not have a perfect set of abs but he says there is a reason for this and it involves his last true professional wrestling match.

During his match against John Cena for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 29 in 2013, Dwayne Johnson suffered an injury that required emergency hernia surgery and almost halted production of the Hercules movie he was working on.

Now, in a new Q&A session with Wired (via Entertainment Weekly), The Rock, who currently stars in the Disney movie, “Jungle Cruise,” explains how this injury led to him not being able to have a proper six-pack.

“All these Instagram fitness models have these incredible six-, eight-, 12-, 24-pack stomachs. I’ve got, like, a five-and-a-half pack, sometimes a four-and-a-half-pack!” Johnson says with a laugh. “But the problem was, which a lot of people don’t know, in a wrestling match, I tore the top of my quad off my pelvis… It caused a chain reaction and it tore my abdomen wall. I had to do a triple hernia emergency surgery for [three tears]. So, they’re not perfect abs!”

Now, the tables have turned as John Cena is the one primarily making a living in Hollywood and is currently back in WWE to try and wrestle away the top championship from a member of The Rock’s family, Roman Reigns.

So far, Jungle Cruise has pulled in over $90 million globally between traditional ticket sales and Disney+ premiere access numbers.
