Edge’s Triceps Injury In 2020 Reportedly Occurred During A Reshoot That Wasn’t Used

Edge’s return to WWE in January 2020 was off to a hot start that came to a screeching halt when he tore his triceps during a match with Randy Orton at Backlash just months later.

Matt Martel and Chase Parker, formerly Ever-Rise in WWE, recently addressed this on their podcast when talking about how multiple matches in the PC went through re-shoots. They mentioned that one time Otis and Baron Corbin had to do a match three times until executives were satisfied with the result.

Going into detail about the Edge/Orton match, they said that the injury actually occurred after they had finished the match and wanted to film some extra content to have on hand.

They said, “Edge and Randy Orton had that match, like a 45-minute match or whatever, main event of a PPV. They bring them back out now to get some cinematic shots and that’s how Edge ends up tearing his pec or hurts his shoulder or whatever because you cool down and you don’t stretch and you’re not up and you just worked for 45 minutes and then you gotta go get this one-shot that they didn’t even end up using anyway.”

Edge was sidelined for over 7 months after the injury and would return to the Royal Rumble again in 2021, this time winning the match. Check out more of what Ever-Rise had to say here. Thanks to Post Wrestling for providing transcriptions.
