The tapings for the two upcoming episodes of WWE NXT confirmed the expected main event for NXT TakeOver 36. Spoilers for the match announcement are below.
Courtesy of JJ Williams, during the tapings, WWE booked Samoa Joe vs. NXT Champion Karrion Kross for the show. The two stars have been feuding in recent weeks, leading many fans to speculate that this bout was the planned direction for NXT TakeOver 36.
Per Williams, Joe resigned from his position as the brand’s enforcer and made it clear that he wants to face Kross at the show. Regal granted Joe’s request, so the former WWE United States Champion will return to the ring for the first time since Feburary 10, 2020. That night, he faced Seth Rollins, Murphy and the Authors of Pain in an eight-man tag team match on WWE RAW. Since then, Joe has struggled to recover from concussion issues, and he had been shifted into a commentary role prior to his release earlier this year.
