Aired July 11, 2021

Report by Colin Tessier for Wrestlezone.com

Tonight, Ring of Honor returns to pay-per-view with Best in the World, where the company will welcome live fans back for the first time since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Coverage of the show will begin when Hour One kicks off at 7 p.m. EST. ROH Best in the World Hour One will be available for free on HonorClubYouTube and pay-per-view channels carrying the pay-per-view. The main show begins at 8 p.m. EST.

Hour One

The broadcast team announces that Tracy Williams has not been cleared for action, so Jay Lethal will take his place in the ROH World Tag Team Championship Match later.

Rey Horus vs. Demonic Flamita

Flamita is ranked third in the TV Title rankings, so he could be in line for a title shot with a win. Horus takes the fight to Flamita and hits a diving hurricanrana onto the floor. He then whips Flamita into the barricade. Flamita catches Horus with a dropkick in midair and grounds his former MexiSquad stablemate.

Ripping at Horus’ mask, Flamita disrespects Horus and maintains the advantage all the while. Horus tries to rally with a kick, but Flamita drives him into the corner. A twisting body-scissors sends Flamita to the outside, and Horus dives onto him outside the ring. A tornado DDT spikes Flamita on his head. Flamita fires back with a slingshot DDT and a powerbomb for a two count.

Horus blocks a Frog Splash, and the two former friend trade strikes. Flamita drills Horus with a right hand and blasts him with a kick to the face. Horus hits a tornado DDT again and earns a two count. A modified Muscle Buster and a kick to the face earn Flamita another two count. Horus rolls Flamita up for the victory.

Winner: Rey Horus

Flamita attacks Horus after the match.

La Faccion Ingobernable arrives backstage, and Kenny King comes to the stage. He tells the fans he hopes they’re ready because the ROH roster is about to show the world this company is the best in the business. He then explains that he won’t be competing tonight because there aren’t any title shots available. Still, he vows that LFI will win all the gold tonight.

Trending with Taven (with Matt Taven)

In the ring, former ROH World Champion Matt Taven explains how some great things have happened in this building; for example, Mike Bennett returned, and OGK reunited. But he states that Vincent has ruined these memories. He says there’s only one way this will end, but Vincent’s music interrupts him.

Vincent comes to the ring, accompanied by The Righteous. He asks Taven why he’s upset because this is exactly what he wanted; the people are cheering for him. Taven cuts Vincent off and says this place isn’t big enough for the two of us. He states that the only way this will end, which is with a match at Glory By Honor on August 21. He says he’ll leave ROH forever if he agrees to this match. Vincent says he doesn’t want Taven’s career; he tells Taven that this stipulation isn’t what he wants. He explains that instead, he wants Taven’s shot at the ROH World Championship.

In response, Taven states that for that to happen, Vincent must agree to face him entirely by himself. Vincent counters by proposing a steel cage match. The two men agree to the terms, and Taven attacks Vincent. After a brief flurry of offense from Taven, The Righteous beats Taven down. Bateman and Dutch throw Taven through a neon sign. Vincent vows to bury Taven the same way the former champion buried him.

Danhausen & PCO vs. The Bouncers (Brawler Milonas and Beer City Bruiser) with Ken Dixon

Milonas blasts PCO with a cheap shot, and The Bouncers isolate Danhausen. The two big men double-team Danhausen and slam him to the mat. Milonas drills him with some body shots in the corner and floors him with a clothesline. The Bouncers are completely in control in the opening minutes.

Eventually, Danhausen rallies and suplexes PCO. “The French Frankenstein” enters the match with a hot tag and gains the upper hand. He hits his moonsault on the apron and dives onto Milonas. PCO and Danhausen drop Bruiser with a double chokeslam. PCO suffers a battery malfunction, but he hits a running senton onto Milonas. Dixon takes Danhausen’s jar of teeth.

Bruiser hits a rope-assisted splash onto PCO, but Danhausen sends Milonas head-first into the ring post. PCO comes back to life, and Danhausen nails Bruiser with a headbutt. He feeds the teeth to Bruiser, kicks them out of his mouth, and slams Bruiser onto the mat. PCO hits the PCO-sault on Bruiser for the win.

Winners: PCO and Danhausen

Sledge, who came to the ramp during the match, continues to stare down PCO. He then confronts the former world champion and talks some trash to him.
