Adam Cole Defeats Kyle O’Reilly In Rematch At NXT Great American Bash

The grudge match between Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly got the grand treatment at NXT Great American Bash, and it was the former who came out on top. O’Reilly used his technical excellence and Muay Thai background in effort to get better of his former friend after the two went back and forth in a massively hard-hitting main event. Trouble happened to come for birthday boy Cole when he once more insulted O’Reilly’s wife during the match, but Cole took advantage of the aggression and wrapped Kyle’s knee around the ring post.

The main event had two commercial breaks, but the two stars made the most of their ring time as both men gave it their all. The two men went hold-for-hold as they closed towards the finish. Cole locked a figure-four on O’Reilly, but a kick freed him to cinch on a heel hook. Cole, however, reached the ropes for a break, and the CWC chanted “this is awesome” as both men get to their feet. O’Reilly downs Cole with a harsh combination, but his own momentum throws him from the ring.

Cole then hit a Panama Sunrise from the apron to the outside. When Cole went for the pin, O’Reilly put his boot on the ropes to stop the count. OReilly nailed Cole with a brainbuster and cilmbed to the top to hit his knee drop. Cole blasted him with his Last Shot, but O’Reilly kicked out.

The finish came when O’Reilly injured his knee striking Cole, who then floored his rival with a Panama Sunrise. Finally, the former NXT Champion drilled O’Reilly with a second Last Shot for the 1-2-3.
