Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista are on-screen teammates, as they respectively play Star-Lord and Drax the Destroyer in the “Guardians of the Galaxy” franchise. But at one point in time, Pratt wanted to fight “The Animal.”
During an appearance on The Late Show with James Corden, Pratt recalled how he once told his co-star that he wants to wrestle the former world champion. Admittedly, Pratt explained that he was under the influence of a sleep aid, so he wasn’t exactly clearheaded when he made the challenge.
“I once told him, there was a moment in my life where I would take sleep aids to help me sleep,” said Pratt. “And I don’t anymore because of things like this. But…I would text people, and I’d black out. I would have no idea what I’m texting on like an Ambien. The next day, he comes, he goes hey man, that text you sent last night. I go what text? He goes you don’t remember? [laughs] and I was like what? And he walks out. I was like what did I text him?’
“I look at my phone, it’s a [long] text…it was like, ‘Dave, I wanna wrestle you. I wanna wrestle you, no one needs to know, but I just wanna know, I think I can take you. I think I could wrestle you, bro, like collegiate rules. No elbows, no knees, I just want to feel the power.’ And I was just mortified. Like, oh my god, Dave would kill me so fast.”
Pratt went on to call Bautista the “toughest dude” in Hollywood. Bautista and Pratt are set to share the screen again when they co-star in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”, which is set to come out on May 5, 2023.
