Killian Dain is excited to see what Nikki Cross can bring to WWE TV with her new “superhero” gimmick.

Killian Dain was a guest on the Ringside Rant podcast and talked about several topics, including his WWE release on June 25 and Nikki Cross’s current singles run on RAW. Dain, who is married to Cross, agreed that you just can’t help but love what she’s doing and said it’s a great opportunity for her.

“Listen, I can tell you this—she’s got this infectious personality. She brings this positivity the entire time. What I love about this gimmick is, it’s given her the opportunity to be a character she really wants to be. She wants to be appropriate for little girls and what they aspire to be because not all our characters are that way. Some are villains or whatever, so this is a good opportunity for her to be, especially with the way the world is right now, to be a positive force, it’s actually quite incredible. And it’s been fun because this came from her idea and she was able to pitch it,” he explained. “It took a long time to get started—the funniest part is we thought it was never going to happen—then it’s ‘Boom!’ and go, go, go.

Dain noted that Cross’ gear maker is based in Holland, so there was extra time spent waiting for that to arrive as well, but is glad it all worked out for her and fans are getting the chance to see that vision.

“She’s loving it right now. Even when she started doing stuff on TV right before the superhero gimmick, this all happened out of nothing. Somebody got hurt or something and she filled in, it went well because she’s that type of character and they were like, great, let’s go full steam ahead with the superhero suit. The way Nikki is as a person is very close to a lot of the things she said in—maybe she’s more dorky in real life, maybe we should cut that bit, [laughs] she might be mad at me—but honestly, it’s a great experience for her. She’s out there on her own now,” Dain said. “She’s not attached to Sanity, she’s not attached to Alexa [Bliss], this is just her and she’s an incredible talent. She’s got all this charisma, but there’s a lot of times that you don’t get to showcase that. That’s the nature of the business, but she’s getting that opportunity now and my fingers and toes are crossed for her.”

It was also noted that it’d be great to see Nikki and ‘Hurricane’ Shane Helms do something together on screen, and Dain said she already pitched it. He went on to say Helms has been a great help with the mask and has been instrumental in showing her other nuances for the character.
