WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett was a guest on the latest edition of This is Wrestling on TSN 1200, where he spoke about joining the Bullet Club and how it all came together.
“We (Global Force Wrestling) wanted to create these global alliances and so with my relationship with New Japan, and we obviously brought Wrestle Kingdom, you know, from the business side of things, we broadcast it, we brought Jim Ross on board, what a super spectacular event,” Jarrett said when asked about the superstar joining Bullet Club. “But at the same time, you know, I’m dealing with the people at TV Asahi to get content and New Japan business executives, but at the same time, you got Tiger Hattori and Gedo. They know that I’ve got a, you know, what is that at that stage of my career? 30-year career, whatever it is. They’re like, “Hey, you are going to be a talent.” I’m like, Okay, what do you got, and when they sort of laid it out, and you got to remember during that time, AJ Styles had left TNA. Obviously, I’d left/resigned as well. For me to get the opportunity and the Bullet Club was red hot and I’m a huge, you know, there’s not many folks that I just continue to rave and rave and rave about their in-ring work, but (Hiroshi) Tanahashi and (Kazuchicka) Okada. Tanahashi is one of my all-time favorites. Just a mega rock star.”
Jarrett went on to praise the work of Doc Gallows, Karl Anderson, and AJ Styles, as well as the Young Bucks, stating that it was initially Styles who pitched the “office member” bit to Jarrett.
“But to get the opportunity with Doc (Gallows) and Karl (Anderson) and AJ in the Bullet Club and the (Young) Bucks and just everything that went into that,” Jarrett said. “AJ says, “Hey, man, we’re gonna do this” and they pitched it to me and I’m gonna be, you know, they called me the “office member” of the Bullet Club. It was really cool. It was just kind of one of those things that was spontaneous. Not that night. Obviously it was planned, but as we rolled into it and for it to happen, it was a cool moment for me and yeah, to hit Tanahashi over the head with the guitar and be revealed as a Bullet Club member. That was pretty cool.”
