Report: Montez Ford Of The Street Profits Had Voluntary Surgery This Week

On the June 11 episode of WWE SmackDown, Montez Ford of The Street Profits was brutally attacked by Otis, leaving him with what WWE.com described the injury as a partial rib fracture and torn intercostal cartilage. We now have an update on Ford’s status.

Montez Ford posted a photo on social media yesterday of himself in a hospital bed with the caption, “GOD IS GOOD.” This photo quickly caught the attention of the WWE Universe, who immediately jumped to the conclusion that Otis seriously injured Ford on SmackDown.

In an update from Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, the injury storyline WWE ran between Otis and Montez Ford on SmackDown was done as a “cover story” for Ford as he was being prepared for a legitimate surgery that took place this week. According to Meltzer, the surgery was voluntary and not related to an actual injury.

The good news for Street Profits fans is it appears the surgery won’t require Montez Ford to miss significant time away from the squared circle. So it appears we will see the Profits back looking for revenge against Otis and Chad Gable at some point this summer.

The Street Profits dropped the SmackDown Tag Team Titles to Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode back in January and haven’t been prominently featured on the blue brand since. With any luck, once Ford returns to action, The Street Profits will be given another chance to rise the ranks of the WWE tag team division on SmackDown or RAW, depending on where they land in the WWE Draft.
