It seems like there might be some truth to the rumors about Samoa Joe’s return to WWE.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Joe is at tonight’s taping of WWE NXT:
“Samoa Joe is backstage at tonight’s WWE NXT TV Taping, PWInsider.com has confirmed,” wrote Johnson.
Joe was released by WWE during a round of budget cuts in April. His non-compete clause was set to expire next month.
Previous reports indicate that Joe is expected to have a non-wrestling role upon his return:
F4WOnline‘s Dave Meltzer is also reporting Joe is back with NXT, and he is being looked at for a “[William] Regal-like role” as an on-air authority character. Fightful added that plans are in place for Joe’s return with NXT, and that role could be expanded “if all parties agree” to it.
