Sheamus States He Will Not Vacate The US Title Despite Injury

Monday night on WWE RAW, during a match against Humberto Carrillo, United States Champion Sheamus suffered a broken nose during their matchup. This led to The Celtic Warrior’s second loss of the evening as he lost to former United States Champion Ricochet minutes before.

Following Monday night’s episode of RAW, the WWE Universe began to speculate over the severity of the injury and if it would require Sheamus to take some time off, or even worse…vacate the United States Championship.

Sheamus clearly saw the speculation on social media and decided to address it on Twitter Tuesday afternoon quickly before things got out of hand:

“..sorry NOT VACATING. #USCHAMPION,” Sheamus tweeted.

While there is a chance WWE might keep Sheamus out of the ring for the next week or two out of precaution, it is likely that he won’t have to miss any television time at all if the company wishes him to remain on RAW as his nose heals up.

The Celtic Warrior has been inviting the WWE Superstars of RAW to participate in his United States title open challenge, which began shortly after WrestleMania 37, where he defeated Riddle to capture the championship for the third time.

Original plans called for Sheamus and Riddle to continue their feud following WrestleMania. But plans for Riddle were shifted to his current storyline with Randy Orton as the very popular tag team, RKBro.

However, this hasn’t hurt The Celtic Warrior as he continues to make great strides with his character and has found himself working with a variety of new opponents following WrestleMania. Some of which are first-time matchups for the WWE veteran.

What are your thoughts on the current United States title reign of Sheamus? Are you happy to hear he won’t have to vacate the championship due to injury? Let us know your thoughts by sounding off in the comments section below.
