Jimmy Smith’s first night as a member of the WWE broadcast team generated a lot of buzz in the wrestling world.
The next day, during an appearance on Busted Open, Smith reflected on his move to WWE and explained how he has been preparing for the role for several months.
“Dude I’ve been doing nothing but homework since January,” said Smith. “I’ve literally lived pro wrestling since January. I found out last week, ‘You’re taking over our biggest show,’ so this week has been insane.
“This week has been, in terms of prep, that’s all I’ve been doing all day is prep. Not only have I been watching nonstop since January, this study level, because I didn’t have a particular show to study for….Once I do, I’m a psycho about prep, and that’s all I’ve been doing.”
How much prep work has @jimmysmithmma put into being the new voice of #WWERaw ? ?

Smith’s work seemingly paid off. His first outing on WWE RAW received practically universal praise, and this reaction was reportedly shared by those within WWE
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that Smith’s debut performance was a success, based on the “positive” reviews he received backstage. Johnson noted some of his sources felt that Smith’s dedication to research and prep was a crucial component of his smooth transition into the WWE world.
It’ll be interesting to see how Smith continues to grow as his time on WWE RAW continues.
