Kavita Devi Clarifies WWE Status, Says She’s ‘Working On A New Arrangement’ To Return

Kavita Devi says the reports about her WWE release are not accurate, and she’s working on returning in a new role.

Kavita Devi was recently interviewed by the Hindustan Times and commented on the reports that she was released earlier this month along with a group of NXT talents. Devi says she’s seen the reports and they aren’t accurate, adding that she’s been home in India since January to care for her husband after he tested positive for COVID-19.

I’ve read some of those reports, and they aren’t accurate. I have been back at home in India since January. My husband contracted Covid earlier this year and I needed to be here with my family, I chose not to go back to America. Everyone at WWE has been incredibly supportive, I am filled with gratitude for everything they have done for me. I have also had an ACL injury for over a year and have been unable to perform in the ring but WWE still supported me through all of that. They understand that India is where I need to be. We are working together on a new arrangement that allows me to be home, but still part of the WWE Universe.

Devi also confirmed this was the reason she was not at the WWE Superstar Spectacle in February and said she hopes her future involvement with WWE includes scouting talent and building the Indian wrestling market. Devi signed with WWE in 2017 and debuted in the inaugural Mae Young Classic (and appeared in the tournament in 2018), but she’s been inactive for nearly two years.
