A few ECW originals paid tribute to New Jack in the city the promotion was most-known for. Rob Van Dam, Blue Meanie, Sandman and Bill Alfonso were all on hand at the former ECW Arena (now the 2300 Arena) in Philadelphia to celebrate the premiere of RVD’s WWE Icons documentary. While the event was positive in nature, everyone in attendance had a moment of silence for New Jack before “Natural Born Killers” hit to tip the cap to the late Jerome Young.

The foursome weren’t the only Extremists to honor their late colleague. Paul Heyman also shared a moving speech on this week’s Talking Smack to eulogize his former talent.
“New Jack was a ‘gangsta’ and everybody who was a fan of ECW, that came to see ECW who watched ECW knew that fact from the moment his music hit and no, we never had rights to use his music. Why? Because he was the most ‘gangsta’ of all us ‘gangstas,'” Heyman stated.
Another ECW familiar in Tommy Dreamer paid tribute as well and discussed New Jack’s legacy on Busted Open Radio.
