NBC Renews ‘Young Rock’ For Second Season

NBC has renewed “Young Rock” for a second season.

Lesley Goldberg of The Hollywood Reporter broke the news and included a quote about the move from Lisa Katz, the president of scripted programming at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming. “Young Rock” was renewed alongside “Kenan”, another new comedy that has found success on the channel.

“It has been a true joy to watch Dwayne Johnson and Kenan Thompson on NBC every week and see families connect with their relatable, entertaining and heartwarming stories,” said Katz. “We’re thrilled to renew both of these shows for another season and can’t wait to see more from Dwayne, Kenan and the incredibly talented casts and producing teams behind each of them.”

Per Goldberg, “Young Rock” ranked second among all comedies in the 18-19 demographic this past season. The show is based on Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and it chronicles the early chapters of his life, before he became a legendary star. Johnson has appeared in every episode of the series, and he’s an executive producer for the show.
