Steve McMichael continues his battle with ALS as friends and family have been helping the Chicago Bears legend and former Horsemen keep fighting the good fight. There are several ways one can help contribute to the cause. A GoFundMe has been set up and Team Mongo is over halfway of achieving it’s $176,000 goal. In addition to that, fans can purchase a Team Mongo tee shirt in which 100% of the proceeds will go to McMichael’s ALS care. There is also a bracelet that can be purchased at the Team Mongo website as well. Further information regarding Mongo’s GoFundMe campaign can be read below:
Chicago Bears Super Bowl XX Champion and fan favorite, Steve “Mongo” McMichael, has been diagnosed with ALS (or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). Steve was diagnosed in January with a 36-month onset. Steve has been suffering in silence for too long. He is paralyzed from the shoulders down so his wife of 20 years, Misty, feeds him and supports him with all hygiene needs. Steve’s legs are weakening and uses a customized wheelchair provided by the Chicago Bears.
This Go Fund Me has been established by their friends to help defray the mounting costs of Steve’s daily care and medical needs. We know that Steve’s fans will want to help as he as inspired so many in his lifetime. He has raised millions of dollars for various charities and plans to use his notoriety to help raise money for families living with ALS. First, we must give Steve, Misty and their 13-year-old daughter, Macy some immediate care, comfort and peace of mind. We are searching for a handicap-accessible home and have put a down payment on a handicap-accessible van.
Watch the website www.TeamMongo76.com and Facebook page @TeamMongo76 for upcoming events that Steve and Misty will be attending and Team Mongo gear you can purchase. 100% of the proceeds will go to the family.
With your donation, you are considered a valued member of TEAM MONGO!
On behalf of Steve, Misty and Macy, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your generosity is appreciated more than you know. Steve sends you a Mongo-sized hug and love!
