There’s no rest for the weary.
Coming off her long reign with the title, former NXT Women’s Champion Io Shirai tried to announce that she plans to take time off. In an interview with Beth Phoenix on WWE NXT, Shirai explained that she wanted to take some time to rest after her challenging reign.
But WWE NXT newcomer Franky Monet confronted Shirai, and her cocky attitude frustrated the former champion. Shirai then quipped that she likes cats, a comment that was a direct shot at Monet’s dog.

As of this writing, it’s unclear whether Shirai will still be taking time off. But WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
