Kenny Dykstra is stepping away from the squared circle.
Kenn Doane, best known to fans as “Kenny Dykstra” in WWE, posted the following message on Tuesday, officially announcing his in-ring retirement.
I’ve decided to retire from in ring wrestling. When I started at 13 I thought I’d retire at 40. But smart investments overtime have allowed me to be done now. I’m in my prime, and that will go towards my family and being a father. Thanks to the fans who stuck by me.
Doane made his WWE debut as “Ken Phoenix” at age 17, later being added to the Spirit Squad stable (as “Kenny”) that debuted in 2006. Doane won the WWE World Tag Team Championship as a member of the stable, and later worked as “Kenny Dykstra” as a singles wrestler until being released in 2008.
After his WWE release, Doane worked on the independent scene and has made appearances over the years in TNA, MLW and Evolve. Doane’s last WWE appearance came in the form of a short run in October 2016, when he and Mike Mondo (Spirit Squad’s Mikey) returned during Dolph Ziggler’s feud with The Miz. Doane and Mondo worked a few tag team matches during the stretch, including an unsuccessful tag team title match against Heath Slater and Rhyno, before leaving TV in December.
Doane’s last professional wrestling match was on November 26, 2019, a loss to Robo at Beyond’s Uncharted Territory in Worcester, Massachusetts.
