Trey Miguel is the last Rascal standing in IMPACT Wrestling, so he’s entering a new chapter of his career. But he already has one goal at the forefront of his mind.
In a recent appearance on the Wrestling Perspective Podcast, Miguel explained why winning the IMPACT Wrestling X-Division is his top priority. He stated that some of his favorite wrestlers have held the title, so he wants to follow in their footsteps.
“[Winning gold] is a big part of my goal because the X-Division Championship, honestly, it kinda went unpaid off last year, in my feud with Ace Austin, and I felt like it had a lot of potential for growth and to get more out of where we were going,” said Miguel. “But I didn’t accomplish getting the X-Division Championship. All my favorite wrestlers have had the X-Division belt. I watched AJ [Styles] have it, Amazing Red have it, Austin Aries have it, Samoa Joe have it, and the X-Division Championship means more to me than any other championship in pro wrestling.
“I have to have that one day. That means something to me personally and I just wanna see that through….The X-Division Championship means a lot, so that’s my biggest goal right now, for real.”
Miguel also shared that becoming the face of IMPACT Wrestling is his ultimate goal, though he believes that he’ll have to work hard and wait his turn before he gets this opportunity.
“That is [my goal], but I’m not gonna say it like I’m next in line for it or anything like that,” said Miguel. “I believe there’s a pecking order to it, and I’m willing to put the work in.
“Wrestling’s all I ever wanted to do. I’m 26 years old, so I have the rest of my life to put this work in, and I’m not rushing to get anywhere else. So that is a goal of mine. I don’t think it’s unachievable.”
