UPDATE: Charlotte Flair has released a statement giving additional information:
“What Manny said about the pregnancy test in today’s interview is true, but a significant amount of context is lost in translation and we’d like to clear that up as best we can.
“A few weeks ago, Charlotte received a call from WWE medical telling her that her HCG levels had come back high and she was being medically suspended for pregnancy. That day, she took several home tests that all came back negative. A few days later, blood work and ultrasound confirmed there was no pregnancy. This was before any issues with COVID (she is currently medically cleared).
This put in a lot of context for her, mainly how small a woman’s career window is. The men are able to work well into their 50s while the women are seen as ‘older’ in their early 30s even. For an athlete in her prime, these years mean everything. Her issue was with the process and how the information was relayed as opposed to the information itself.”
It’s been an awkward build to WrestleMania 37 for Charlotte Flair as she was pulled from advertising before revealing she was out with COVID-19. However, according to her fiancee Andrade, Flair was originally pulled from WrestleMania 37 over a WWE doctor thinking she was pregnant despite that not being the case.
The whole situation started after a WWE doctor contacted Flair and said that she was pregnant. Thankfully, the couple went for their own tests that disproved the pregnancy. “We went to the pharmacy [to take a test] and it was negative,” Andrade told Hugo Savinovich of Lucha Libre Online. “They took her out of the story because they said she was pregnant. Four days later the tests were negative.”
Flair is now backstage at RAW and time will tell if she gets re-inserted into the RAW Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania.
