Having made his WWE debut in 2005, one might expect Bobby Lashley to feel a little frustrated that it took him more than 15 years to win the WWE Championship.
Instead, “The All Mighty” is glad he won his first WWE Championship in 2021.
During an appearance on The Justin Kinner Show, Lashley explained his patient mindset surrounding this victory. He also explained that he told Vince McMahon he was glad it took him so long to win the tile.
“Of course I would have wanted it sooner, because with all the perks, it could have came a lot sooner,” said Lashley. “Champions make a little bit more extra money, Champions get extra things, you know, I just flew on a private jet to RAW on Monday. It’s one of those different things that you get as WWE Champion.
“I wish I would have had it before. But at the same time, winning it and I even told it this to Vince, too, I said, ‘You know what, I’m glad it took me this long to win it.'”
Lashley also compared the return of live fans at WrestleMania to a family reunion after a soldier gets sent away to war.
“It’s like getting sent to war, and then coming back after, when the family reunites, it’s like, ‘Oh,’ running and hugging and that’s how we’re gonna be with the fans.,” said Lashley. “We’re gonna come out of the curtain, and they’re gonna be like, ‘Wow there you go, I haven’t seen you in a long time. I miss you.’ So I’m ready to show out for you.”
