Charlotte Flair is walking in The Rock’s footsteps.
In some ways, that’s generally true of her wrestling career, as “The Queen” has become one of WWE’s top stars But she’s now set to star in Walking Tall, a remake of the 2004 movie in which Dwayne Johnson played the leading role.
Peter White of Deadline broke the news by reporting that David Eick, the executive producer of Battlestar Galactica, is developing a reboot of Walking Tall, which was originally a 1973 feature film, as a TV movie for USA Network.
White writes that Flair, who previously appeared in USA Network’s Psych: The Movie, is set to star in the new project, which is expected to be a two-hour TV movie. He also notes that the network is hopeful for sequels and/or a continuation as an ongoing series.
Finally, White also offers a brief description of Flair’s role, which echoes that of Johnson’s part in the 2004 movie:
“Flair, the daughter of WWE legend Ric Flair, will play a Tucson cop who finds herself caught in a web of fraud, exploitation and murder, and is forced to go full vigilante to protect her home town from falling victim to modern corruption.”
Flair also appears as a guest star in Peacock’s Punky Brewster, which is now available for streaming.
WrestleZone will provide more details as they become available.
