New Japan Pro Wrestling presented their last stop on the Road To Castle Attack on Thursday, and the junior division was shook up before the big weekend in Osaka. Hiromu Takahashi opened the show and explained that he would be vacating the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship due to injury. Takahashi asked that his tag partner BUSHI take his place in the upcoming Jr. Title match against El Phantasmo on 2/28 at Castle Attack.
In the main event, El Desperado & Yoshinobu Kanemaru regained their IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship, defeating El Phantasmo & Taiji Ishimori in a rematch from January’s New Beginning Tour. The win lit a fire under El Desperado, and the Suzuki-gun junior decided he wanted to be a part of Sunday’s Jr. Title match, meaning it is now a three way dance.
