Dakota Kai & Raquel González Reflect On Their Unstoppable Run To The Women’s Dusty Cup

Dakota Kai and Raquel González are on an unstoppable run in NXT, and they don’t see it stopping anytime soon.

The winners of the inaugural Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic appeared on WWE’s The Bump and reflected on their success. González described how her pinning Io Shirai at NXT TakeOver: WarGames was just the beginning.

“I feel like we are pretty unstoppable right now,” said González. “I feel like at WarGames, we made a statement. We’ve been on a roll ever since WarGames, and I don’t think that train is stopping any time soon.”

Kai described why her partnership with “Big Mami Cool” is the perfect pairing because their contrasting styles balance each other out.

“I think one of the main reasons is our dynamic,” said Kai. “Raquel brings the strength, she’s a powerhouse, she gets in the ring, just demolishes everyone in her path. I utilize a lot more of my speed and quickness and kicks. So I think the juxtaposition of those two styles really compliment one another, and we cover all areas basically when we get into the ring.”

González has grown a lot throughout her relatively short time in a prominent role on NXT, and she described how she has benefitted from learning alongside the veteran Kai.

“I would definitely say that my confidence has grown tremendously since I partnered up with Dakota,” said González. “I mean ,she’s been doing this a lot longer than I have, so she really brings in that veteran type of style and the experience. And I think that’s also what has helped us, aside from having this different dynamic, is that she has the experience, and it’s helped me gain experience in all the positions I’ve been put in so far. So it’s really every time that I’m out there with her, I feel like my confidence just grows and grows and grows, and I’m always learning and I’m always willing just to keep pushing to whatever is next.”
