Adam Cole is still a scumbag—and PAT MCAFEE TOLD YOU SO!
Last night’s NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day event ended in surprising fashion, as The Undisputed Era came to Finn Balor’s aide after he’d been attacked by Pete Dunne, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch. Kyle O’Reilly, Roderick Strong and Adam Cole made the save and appeared to be on the same page, but Cole then “shocked the system” by superkicking Balor—and O’Reilly for questioning his motives!
Plenty of fans are asking questions and hopefully we get some answers on Wednesday, but none of it matters… because #PatWasRight.
Pat McAfee—media personality, NFL star, thorn in Adam Cole’s side—was right. He posted the following on Twitter after Cole showed his true colors and proved what Pat knew the whole time:
Internet Wrestling Community, I am now accepting your apologies in abundance.
You are by far the dumbest group of humans on the internet, you could’ve never known your hero was a treasonous scumbag but, I knew it all along. Please use #PatWasRight in your apology tweets.
McAfee has competed in two matches in NXT, both involving Cole. The first was a singles match at NXT TakeOver XXX, and the second (and final… for now) was a War Games match featuring The Undisputed ERA (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong) against McAfee’s team of Danny Burch, Oney Lorcan and Pete Dunne.

Triple H spoke about McAfee’s status on a NXT TakeOver media call last week and said he hopes to have him back on the black and gold brand at some point, and explained why he’s been absent from television.
Triple H was asked if McAfee had any limitations preventing him from returning, and he said that Pat’s only limitations are that he’s busy.
“Pat’s limitations are he’s a busy guy. Pat is one of the most successful—and I’d hate to put a title on [all that he does] because I feel like that would limit him,” he started off saying, “Just look at everything he does. As you can imagine going into the playoffs and into the Super Bowl, it was a very busy time for him. Everybody leans into everything and has a take on it and then it runs on the Internet and everybody speculates and Pat loves that. As do we, so his learning about his firing on the air was greatly exaggerated.” [laughs]
“Pat, he’s a busy dude. We’ve been talking about it and he said, ‘Look give me a moment to breath when the Super Bowl is over,’ cause he just got married not that long ago and he’s like, ‘If I don’t take a breath for a minute after this Super Bowl, I might not be married for that much longer.’ My words, not his—I think he just needed to take a breather. If we can engage here [with him in NXT] back again… he loves it and that’s the one thing I love about Pat. When you have somebody from outside that comes in that loves it, and by outside it’s hard for me to even refer to him as an outsider because he so loves what we do that it’s hard not to see him like an insider.”
