Triple H: Edge Has Been Pushing To Work With NXT Since Last Year, It’s Not Off The Table

Some fans have already ruled out a possible match between Edge and NXT Champion Finn Balor at WWE WrestleMania, but Triple H believes that the bout is a genuine possibility.

In the NXT TakeOver: Vengeance Day media call, Triple H offered his thoughts on this match, and he said that it’s on the table, just like Edge’s potential clashes with Drew McIntyre and Roman Reigns.

“I don’t think any of it is beyond the realm of possibility,” said Triple H. “You saw it last year with Charlotte [Flair]. I think you see it this year, with him playing things across the board. I think that all those things are on the table….”

Triple H explained that Edge has been pushing to work with young talent because he wants to help them however he can. “The Game” revealed that Edge has wanted to work with NXT wrestlers for a while, even before his return at WWE Royal Rumble 2020.

“He really is in a place in his mind where he wants to build young [talent] and just keep them rolling in different directions,” said Triple H. “So he has been talking to me since prior to coming back the first time in the Royal Rumble over a year ago, of coming to NXT and not only stepping in the ring and talking ,but stepping in the ring and performing.

“And you know, prior to him even coming to the Rumble, he sorta kinda gave me a ‘Oh, man, here’s my list, I’d like to work with this guy, I’d like to work him, I would love to come here and work with this person.’ You know, it’s just where he’s at. That youth is exciting, their enthusiasm, their passion for this, their drive, their desire. And I think man, when he came to NXT, seems like months ago now, but I guess it was two weeks ago, just knowing him so well, I could see the smile on his face all day as he went around and was just talking to these guys and girls and it’s awesome to see.”

Triple H stated that no matter what happens at WWE WrestleMania 37, Edge could still work with NXT later this year.

“One way or the other, depending where WrestleMania goes, beyond that, I think there’s the ability for him to come to NXT and sort of use his star power to one, help them and kind of elevate, but also for him to have sort of that final few chapters of his career the way he wants to have them and with the people he wants to have them with,” said Triple H.

“That’s something he’s not only willing to do but really pushing hard to do.”

It’s fairly clear that Edge is eager to face some of NXT’s talented wrestlers. Fans will just have to wait and see what his future holds.
