Rob Gronkowski Becomes The First Former WWE 24/7 Champion To Win A Super Bowl

Gronk-A-Mania ran wild in Tampa on Sunday night.

Rob Gronkowski and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV over the Kansas City Chiefs by a score of 31-9. With the win, the Bucs not only become the first team to ever win a Super Bowl at their home stadium, but Gronkowski is the first WWE 24/7 Champion to win the NFL’s top prize.

Gronk won the 24/7 Championship at WrestleMania 36 (taped at the WWE Performance Center in March 2020) and ten months later hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy with the Buccaneers. Gronk caught six passes for 67 yards and two touchdowns in the game.

FOX Sports’ Rob Stone was the first football personality to win the title, and Portland Trail Blazers’ star Enes Kanter was the first professional athlete that won the title. Former NFL/CFL star Doug Flutie did win the 24/7 Championship for a brief time on Saturday, and although he never won a Super Bowl, he is a three-time winner of the Grey Cup, the championship awarded to the champion of the Canadian Football League.

As it is customary for WWE to do, they’re sending the Bucs a commemorative WWE Championship. Noted by Triple H after the big game, Gronk will know what to do with it!
