Kenny Omega Issues Tag Team Challenge; KENTA Tells Him To Shut The F*ck Up, They Aren’t Friends

Update: AEW has since confirmed the match will take place on next week’s show. One minor change to note is that it is being marketed as a “Falls Count Anywhere, Anything Goes” match despite Omega calling for a “Lights Out” match, which would’ve indicated a non-sanctioned bout.

KENTA isn’t here to make friends. AEW posted the following video after the conclusion of AEW Beach Break’s first night, which saw the New Japan star debut and attack Jon Moxley after the main event.

KENTA ran in after the main event and attacked Moxley, who had previously attacked him on NJPW Strong last week. AEW cameras then found him leaving alongside Omega, who said he didn’t know they would have any guests sent by Jay White. Omega tried to ‘Too Sweet’ him as a sign of solidarity, but KENTA promptly told him to “Shut the fuck up” because they aren’t friends.

Omega clearly got the message, as he… called for AEW to put them together in a tag team match. Omega called for Tony Khan to book himself and KENTA against Lance Archer and Jon Moxley in a Lights Out match on next week’s show.

As of now, Khan has not responded to the challenge, but it would be the fourth confirmed match for next week’s broadcast. The following matches have already been confirmed for the February 10 episode of Dynamite:

  • Darby Allin (c) vs. Joey Janela (AEW TNT Championship)
  • Chris Jericho & MJF vs. The Acclaimed
  • Cody Rhodes & Lee Johnson vs. Pretty Peter Avalon & Cezar Bononi
