Riddle hoped to do the unthinkable this week on WWE RAW. If he could defeat The Hurt Business in a Gauntlet Match, he would earn another shot at WWE United States Champion Bobby Lashley. Riddle unsuccessfully challenged for the title earlier this month.
Shelton Benjamin nearly pinned Riddle, but Cedric Alexander accidentally distracted the referee, so the official didn’t count the pin. This development continued the dissension within The Hurt Business. While Benjamin and Alexander were arguing, MVP was distracted, and Riddle capitalized by making him tap out to a leg lock.
The #HurtBusiness is not exactly clicking at the moment … because @SuperKingOfBros just made his way through the first part of this #GauntletMatch! #WWERaw pic.twitter.com/KMqtuZi7DO

Alexander took the fight to Riddle, but “The Original Bro” rallied. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion regained control, and he continued to squash Riddle’s offensive flurries. But in the end, Riddle rolled Alexander up for the win.

After the bell, Lashley attacked Riddle and put him in the Hurt Lock.
