New Beginnings In Nagoya & Hiroshima
New Japan Pro Wrestling announced the cards for their New Beginning tour on Tuesday. The tour will be centered on three huge shows in Nagoya & Hiroshima. Signalling the true start of the 2021 calendar year, NJPW is presenting new title challengers in the wake of Wrestle Kingdom 15.
New Beginning in Nagoya will be headlined by Hiroshi Tanahashi challenging NEVER Openweight Champion Shingo Takagi in a first time match that is sure to be pure spectacle. The show will also feature Ten-cozy seeking revenge on The Empire, after The Empire’s vicious assault at New Year’s Dash. The new factions attack on Hiroyoshi Tenzan & Satoshi Kojima sent Tenzan away on a stretcher, and Kojima laying down the gauntlet. Kojima will face Will Ospreay, and Tenzan will face Great-O-Khan in can’t-miss singles action.
Three huge title matches headline both of NJPW’s nights in Hiroshima for the tour closing shows on 2/10 & 2/11. IWGP Double Champion Kota Ibushi is haunted by the ghost of 2020, as he’ll face the man he beat in last year’s G1 Climax finals, SANADA. SANADA issued the challenge minutes after Ibushi defeated Jay White in the longest match in Wrestle Kingdom history. The two will clash in the tour closing match on 2/11.
IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi will face SHO in the night 1 main event on 2/10. SHO has been on a tear since his the injury of his tag team partner YOH, and looks to capitalize on that momentum in Hiroshima. Plus a Wrestle Kingdom rematch as Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa defend their newly won tag team titles against Zac Sabre Jr. & Taichi.
