Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa faced off in a heated match at NXT TakeOver: WarGames. Ciampa has returned to NXT with a bitter edge while Thatcher has become a prominent player on the black-and-gold brand. Ciampa took control early on, and he grounded Thatcher.

The competitors traded stiff blows throughout the match. An uppercut rocked Ciampa, and Thatcher gained the upper hand. He dominated the match for a few minutes. Ciampa eventually rallied and slammed Thatcher.

Ciampa floored Thatcher with a flurry of offense, and he dropped Thatcher with a superplex. Still, Thatcher tried to choke Ciampa out, but the former NXT Champion sent them both crashing to the floor.

Thatcher’s ear started bleeding profusely, but he persevered. He kept targeting Ciampa’s surgically-repaired neck.

Still, Ciampa dropped Thatcher with a Widow’s Bell for the win.
