Griff Garrison Calls 2020 A Blessing In Disguise

Griff Garrison is one of the young talents in AEW who has consistently worked his way up through the ranks of AEW Dark in 2020 following the global pandemic moving all programming to Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida.

Speaking with Alicia Atout recently, Garrison opened up about how he ended up with AEW and why 2020 was a blessing in disguise for him.

“It was just crazy because, like, I was just so used to wrestling like three times a week and for all that to just kind of stop out of nowhere, like I didn’t know what to do with myself. So, like, I watched a lot of Netflix, so I just didn’t know what to do because, like, I was just so used to, like I said, wrestling like two or three times a week, and then I got the call to go to AEW and then that picked up like in May or something, so. That was a blessing in disguise. 2020 has been a blessing in disguise for me, honestly, just because of that.”

He continued, “Well when I got the call, I was not expecting it at all because it was super late at night when I got it and I was like, ‘you’re kidding.’… When I got there, I was just so shocked because everybody is just so nice to each other and everybody there is so welcoming. For guys like Jericho and Tony [to] take time out of their day to kind of like come up to me and say, ‘hey, how are you? What’s up?’ It meant a lot to me. So that, like AEW, like the last three or four months that I’ve been there, it’s just been a life-changing experience and it’s like a really great one.”

Griff Garrison will once again appear on AEW Dynamite, as part of the newly-named “Varsity Blonds” alongside Brian Pillman Jr., in tag team competition.
