As the former Advocate of Brock Lesnar and the current “Special Council to The Tribal Chief,” Paul Heyman has directly worked with WWE’s top stars for several years. In an interview with Alex McCarthy of talkSPORT, he offered high praise for both sides of WWE Survivor Series’ monumental main event.
Heyman emphasized how now is the perfect time for his association with Reigns, even though “The Big Dog” has been groomed for exceptional success before. “This has been a lifetime in the making and only now was the time right for us to pull the trigger on this collaboration,” said Heyman via McCarthy.
The former executive director of RAW looked back on his past interactions with Reigns, which often came as adversaries during Lesnar’s feud with the one-time standout of The Shield. “’The fact is that several years ago, on television, I told Roman Reigns at the time, he was the right guy, in the right place, at the wrong time,” said Heyman via McCarthy. “‘Because it wasn’t time for him to emerge as the single biggest superstar in all of WWE, be it RAW, SmackDown, NXT and indeed, all of sports entertainment. Now is that time for Roman Reigns.”‘
Likewise, Heyman argued that McIntyre is currently in the same position that Reigns used to be in. Despite McIntyre’s undeniable talent and qualifications, he’s on the wrong side of this upcoming match. ” Drew McIntyre is a god sent to WWE,” said Heyman Via McCarthy. He praised the WWE Champion and opined that McIntyre could go down as one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time. But “The Special Council” was quick to point out that Reigns is the superior title-holder.
“’The problem is that Drew McIntyre is the right guy, at the right place, at the wrong time,'” said Heyman via McCarthy. “’Because Drew McIntyre is always going to be the biggest superstar with the secondary championship because it’s not the championship that makes the man, it’s the man that makes the championship.'”
Heyman ended his message with one more harsh stance about the hierarchy of Reigns and McIntyre atop the proverbial ladder in WWE. “‘The – T-H-E – the biggest single superstar in all of WWE, right now, is Roman Reigns,” said Heyman via McCarthy. “’And Drew McIntyre, as great as he is – and he is great – is going to have to accept the fact that he is secondary to Roman Reigns.'”
Fans will have to tune in and see what happens on Sunday at WWE Survivor Series, when WWE’s top two champions clash in the ring.
