Zelina Vega has been in the news since WWE terminated her contract last week. Vega has had a “powerful” conversation with SAG-AFTRA as the discussion about potential unionization gains some steam in the world of professional wrestling. In recent stream on Twitch, Vega shared her thoughts on her release and her now infamous Tweet. Here are some highlights, h/t to Jeremy Lambert of Fightful:
Per Lambert, Vega called the week since her release “‘literal hell,'” and called the day of her release “‘the worst day of my life.'” She also warned that misinformation can get spread around on social media and stated that people have twisted the story surrounding her release. “‘Let’s just say that the narrative has been completely out of control and is completely wrong,'” said Vega via Lambert.
Vega also reflected on how the nature of her exit from the company speaks to her personal growth. “I was someone who let people walk all over me,” said Vega via Lambert. “‘I was very insecure and I didn’t stand up for myself…. I’ve learned to grow as a person. I’ve known to realize my worth and stand up for who I am, and appreciate the things I’ve gotten along the way.'”
