As first reported by PWInsider, two prominent names recently attended a WWE tryout focusing on women’s wrestlers. The first, Elayna Black, has made several appearances on AEW Dark as of late. The coffin-carrying competitor from Chicago, Illinois has appeared in numerous promotions since her debut in December 2018, including as enhancement talent on IMPACT Wrestling and on four recent GCW shows.
The other name of note is Lacey Ryan, a regular in Championship Wrestling from Hollywood who has also appeared in IMPACT from time to time. Ryan has been wrestling on and off since 2013, with a renewed focus over the last two years.
Both competitors were in attendance alongside a number of other women looking for a spot in NXT and/or WWE. Several major promotions are scrambling to pick up female competitors as of late, with AEW, in particular, having trouble putting together a complete division with the stars they’ve signed so far.
