Gresham and Williams feel each other out with technical holds. The match is a stalemate early on as the competitors match each other step for step. Several stiff chops drop Gresham. “The Octopus” gets a two count with a German suplex. Williams clotheslines Gresham.

Both men crash to the floor after a body-scissors takedown. Williams plants Gresham with a Brainbuster and locks in the Crossface. He reaches the ropes to escape the hold. Gresham suplexes Williams and drills him with three forearms to the head. Williams’ hurt shoulder prevents him from hitting the piledriver, but he hits a second attempt. Gresham uses his final rope break to avoid the three count.
