Edge prides himself on being the bad guy but at Unforgiven 2006, he just couldn’t put away his nationalistic pride and overwhelming emotions from living his dream and coming home as the WWE Champion.
Speaking on WWE Untold, Edge described that match with John Cena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as “the one that got away” because he was unable to turn his hometown crowd against him.
“Me not being able to control my pride, my little kid happiness, that’s the one thing that I wish I could [have done]. What if I could turn that crowd? Maybe I could have turned that crowd. Because if I could turn that crowd, woof, now you’re talking. That’s one thing that if I can have a take-back, I try for that.”
