If you can “believe that” Roman Reigns wanted a change of pace to his wrestling persona, then your theory may have marked it’s territory in The Big Dog’s yard.
According to Dave Meltzer in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was Roman Reigns who requested to become a heel before he made is long-awaited return to WWE programming at SummerSlam. It is however, unknown as if it was Reigns or Vince McMahon’s idea to make Paul Heyman his advocate.
The uncertainly of an evil Reigns’ has still been greatly up in the air as fans have seen heel tendencies in the Big Dog, but nothing besides the alignment with Heyman and some harsh Twitter comments to a fan, can completely cement him with a full-blown turn to the dark side.
Only reason I’m down your throat, is because you keep your mouth open. I’m the best performer of this generation period and the title is finally in the right hands for it to hold true value. https://t.co/E7PzVUP20D

We all may get a more concrete answer as WWE Friday Night SmackDown commences once more tonight from it’s ThunderDome at the Amway Centre in Orlando, FL. In WWE’s preview for tonight’s show, Roman is slated to address the fans tonight.
In addition to that, there is a fatal four-way match to determine the number one contendership for the WWE Universal Title that features Big E, Matt Riddle, King Corbin and Sheamus. By all accounts from Payback, Riddle still seems to be wrapped in a feud with Corbin while Big E got a clean defeat against Sheamus. If following conventional booking procedures, this would make Big E the likely candidate to contend.
