Renee Young Was ‘Bothered’ By WWE’s Reaction To Her COVID-19 Diagnosis

Renee Young may have recently left WWE after eight years with the company, and while she has a ton of love for the company, Young’s recent battle with COVID-19 and WWE’s response did not sit well with her.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated during this week’s SI Media Podcast, Young admitted that she was a bit bothered by WWE’s response to her contracting the virus. When asked if she thought that WWE could have handled things better, Young was hesitant to cast blame on anyone, but did acknowledge she felt a bit slighted. “Listen, anything I say on this is gonna end up seeming like controversial or like I’m shitting on it or whatever,” she said, “but, yeah, did I feel a little slighted? I didn’t really feel like anyone was all that concerned that I got sick. That bothered me for sure.”

Young went on to say that she has no hard feelings over what happened, and that she still loves everyone in WWE like a family member. However, Young did acknowledge that the company likely could have done a bit more in the way of being extra precautious, but is glad they’re doing so now. “But, you know, it’s hard to say. Again, it’s like, shit, the show goes on and now they’re working at the Amway Center and they’re essentially doing the best that they can NOW. Now doing the proper tests. I think that was something that should’ve been implemented from the beginning,” she said. “Since everything that’s gone down and however many people ended up getting sick, now it feels like a much safer environment. Even when I was there for SummerSlam, I was definitely less concerned about it knowing that everyone in the building has been properly tested with the nose swab and whatnot.”
