Avid fans of NXT certainly missed the well-placed “Mama-mia’s” of Mauro Ranallo this past weekend at TakeOver XXX, but the play-by-play man of the black and gold brand had a very understandable reason for missing the landmark event.
According to Dave Meltzer on his latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Ranallo had to travel back home to British Columbia due to a “family situation” and therefore had to miss TakeOver. Thankfully, former NXT commentator Corey Graves was available to help carry the load.
Triple H also addressed Mauro’s absence on the NXT TakeOver XXX post-show media call, noting that Ranallo simply “wasn’t available.” He went on to praise the efforts of Beth Phoenix and Corey Graves, the latter of which Triple H said had been asking him to do NXT commentary for some time.
