Triple H says talent that isn’t being used on one WWE show can find a great opportunity by switching brands.
Triple H was asked about having Breezango on the NXT roster during his NXT TakeOver XXX post-show media call, and if bringing Tyler Breeze back (and adding Fandango) was a way to reboot the team. WWE has used trades, special exemptions and other variables to mix up the rosters across all three shows in the absence of a formal draft in recent years. WrestleZone’s Bill Pritchard asked if Triple H wanted to continue using talent in this way and he agreed that being able to move available performers around is a good opportunity for them as well as a way to freshen things up on their respective shows.
“Absolutely. Look—I think anybody’s career is going to have ups and downs. I think there is going to be moments in time when you’re on top and, you know, when you’re in the middle and when you’re not, when you’re used a lot, when you’re not used quite as much, and that is the long-term position we’re in. And I think you see that across the board. But wherever talent can have that ability to add the most value, I think is where they should be. So to me, that’s the exciting thing about having this and having, you know, RAW, SmackDown and NXT, having all of that programming, and even then some, when you talk about the UK and everything else that we are doing now and will be doing in the near future.”
“You just create opportunities and you go through one place and it’s not everything that anything wants it to be, and you have the opportunity to go to a new territory, so to speak, within the same company and reboot yourself. And I think that you will see that in the years to come across the board. I think you will see talent move from RAW to SmackDown and have a rebirth. I think you’ve seen that, even in the brands now, where, you know, Apollo Crews is in a different role and then he switched, and that’s a giant change for him. I just think you’ll see it everywhere and I think that’s a great thing for talent.
“It’s all opportunity, and then once you’re there and you get that opportunity, how do things pan out creatively for yourself, for what you can accomplish and what is accomplished with you, that will always be ups and downs. But I think the opportunity to do it in multiple places just makes that where everybody can succeed someplace across the board and have long-term careers that are very meaningful, without that burnout factor long-term.”
