The Grilling JR YouTube Channel has been slicing up some clips of previous episodes (hot off the grill) and one includes Jim Ross giving his thoughts on Sting’s 2014-2015 run with WWE.
JR, like always didn’t mince words when it came to his thoughts on the matter as he praised Sting’s star power despite WWE making the most of the situation in his opinion.
“I was underwhelmed by Sting’s WWE run. I thought that he should have come in guns a-blazing and give the fans a chance to tap into his passion and his motions. He was a big star. I don’t think he was ever given the credit in WWE for being the star that he was and many will speculate that it may have been because the WWE didn’t create Sting. They didn’t give him his name, they didn’t give his persona, nothing and if that was a factor, I hope it wasn’t but if it was, it’s embarrassing, but I thought it was underwhelming. I thought we could have done more with that situation.”
“He deserved better. Sting deserved better than what he got in WWE, but I’m sure he got paid very, very well, but I wish he would have had more accolades and that feel that ‘I’m still somebody,’ and I’m sure he may have felt that way but I just felt like we under-delivered how we presented him and boy, we wanted him for a long time.
“You bring somebody in like that, you go with him, but there was that caveat: ‘He’s not our guy’ and I think that that had an adverse effect.”
