AJ Styles On Facing Jeff Hardy: ‘I Think I’m Gonna Run Right Through Him’

AJ Styles  appeared on this week’s episode of WWE’s The Bump. The WWE Intercontinental Champion discusses his upcoming match with Jeff Hardy and his relationship with Joseph A. Park. Here are some highlights:

On his match with Jeff Hardy:

Styles: “Well, listen, I think Jeff Hardy, he’s an amazing talent, there’s no questioning that, as a tag team. He’s trying to do this, you know, in a singles match, he’s not really prepared for it, in my opinion. He’s better as a tag team specialist. I think I’m gonna run right through him. I’m not gonna say it’s gonna be super easy, but it’s gonna be easy. I really believe that.”

On Joseph A. Parks:

Styles: “He does great work, that’s why I hired Joseph A. Parks LLC.  I believe [he’s been in Orlando in recent years] and that’s why he changed his name to Joseph A. Parks LLC, because of some things that went down in the past. So yeah I think he’s been in Orlando the whole time, doing great work, I mean that’s why I hired him. The guy’s really smart.”

On his relationship with Bret Hart:

Styles: “I’ve gotten to know Bret over the years and man, I think everybody who ever watched WWE in the past saw the talent that Bret Hart was, and he is everything that everybody wants to be. It’s the small things that he does that makes him so great, like everything he does is perfect. I think that’s why so many of us performers looked up to Bret Hart because every match that he had, no matter who it was with, was awesome. So it means a lot for him to sing my praises.”

On his match with John Cena at WWE SummerSlam:

Styles: “That match in 2016 with John Cena was a game changer for me. It changed everything. And so if people are downplaying it, they’re saying it wasn’t that great, then maybe they weren’t watching the same match that everybody else was. I thought it was great, everything about it. The atmosphere, the fans were amazing, I think it was a match that not a lot of people thought they’d see, including myself. To be able to compete against John Cena in a WWE ring at one of the bigger PPVs of the year, it’s unbelievable. I thought it was easily one of the best matches I’ve had in my career.”
