It looks like Goldberg‘s next match in WWE is a question of when, not if.
Goldberg was a recent guest on The Pop Culture Show and said he’s still under WWE contract for two more years, also noting that he’s on a two match-per-year deal.
“I am contracted with the WWE for the next two years through 2022… ’23? I’ve got two matches per year and I’ve exhausted my commitment quite early this year on April 5 with WrestleMania, under these really weird circumstances, but I’ve got some extremely interesting projects right on the cusp as you guys know in the entertainment business, right now everything is on hold. We’ve got a lot of cool things that people are going to find out about soon.
“My WWE commitment is still going strong. I’m 53, I never would have imagined it, especially making fun of [Ric] Flair for doing it in his early forties.”
Goldberg compared his comeback to Mike Tyson’s in that they are both part of a generation that takes pride in what they do. He says they have the same mentality and he still has to be ‘Goldberg’ and wants to set a positive example and be at his best.

Goldberg was last seen in a WWE ring at WrestleMania against Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 36 where he lost the Universal Championship.
Speaking on the CarCast podcast earlier this year, Goldberg was talking about his schedule with WWE and confirmed that he met his obligations with the company for the year. He said he’d gone home and stopped training since he was done, but he ended up getting a call that the original match was still possible on Roman’s end until they’d learned someone else was sick. It’s unclear how the match would have factored in if it happened since Braun Strowman already beat him at the taping, but Goldberg took time to credit Roman for still making the effort to make the match happen.
“It was still a possibility on his end that he could go through with the match. We went to the [WWE Performance Center] and our temperatures were taken when we walked in, the place was scrubbed up and down, there were a limited amount of people allowed in and out of the building, it was very controlled.
“I think what happened was somebody was sick and Roman had heard about it. They just had the flu, but just the fact that someone was sick under those circumstances, at the end of the day he just couldn’t do it. More power to him to continually want to get it done, whether that’s realistic or unrealistic from a person in his shoes are concerned but you’ve got to love the guy because up to the 11th hour, he was still willing to do it.”
