Report: WWE SummerSlam To Take Place At Amway Center In Orlando

It looks like the Biggest Party Of The Summer is staying in Florida after all.

According to multiple sources, this year’s WWE SummerSlam event is being planned as taking place at the Amway Arena in Orlando, Florida.

@WrestleVotes initially hinted that the announcement was coming, with Spectrum Sports’ Jon Alba following up by saying WWE might be planning for more events at the arena than just SummerSlam and noted that the area is currently closed due through the year, leading to the belief that no other events would conflict.

Alba has since stated multiple sources claim the event will take place at Amway Center with load-in as soon as tomorrow. F4WOnline‘s Dave Meltzer also reports talent was asked to book travel into Orlando and that an announcement will be made as soon as plans are finalized. Meltzer also noted that tickets would not be sold for the event at this point in time, and unless something changes, the audience members would consist of WWE contracted talent.

Finally, PWInsider.com is reporting that in addition to the venue change, WWE is considering the use of virtual fans in the crowd for future broadcasts, including SummerSlam.

Previous reports had indicated that WWE was attempting to host SummerSlam outside of the Performance Center, with Atlantic City named as one possible location. SummerSlam was initially scheduled to take place in Boston but plans were canceled due to the ongoing quarantine measures in place due to COVID-19.

WWE SummerSlam is scheduled for Sunday, August 23; this year’s event would mark the first time that the event was hosted in Florida in its 33 year history.
