Amazon Explores Possible Sequel To Batista’s My Spy

Movies are in a weird spot right now, to put it mildly. Studios have no place to release the summer slate due to the closures of theaters around the country, leading to some creative release strategies. One of those was utilized for Batista’s My Spy, a comedy starring the former WWE wrestlers as a super-spy having to deal with a pint-sized interloper. Outside of Dave Bautista and child actress Chloe Coleman, the film features Kristen Schaal, Parisa Fitz-Henley, and Ken Jeong.

The movie, which was originally meant for theaters, instead premiered on Amazon Prime. While viewer numbers for such releases aren’t readily available, Amazon must be pleased with the performance of the comedy, as they’re now exploring potential follow-ups with the entire cast returning. As first reported by Deadline, the conglomerate will team with film production company STX films in order to continue the new franchise. While the film did premiere theatrically in several countries, all signs point to the sequel being on Amazon Prime exclusively.
